Debbie Juvenile

Despite hailing from North London, Debbie Juvenile was often considered to be a member of The Bromley Contingent. One of the few members of the infamous South London fan-gang who wasn’t actually in a band, Debbie instead had a job as an assistant at Vivienne and Malcolm’s shop “Seditionaries” at 430 Kings Road in Chelsea.

As well as working in Seditionaries, Debbie was also drafted in to sell copies of the tabloid style Anarchy programmes on the Sex Pistols “Anarchy in the UK” tour in early 1977. By June of the same year, Debbie also had a hand in the infamous Sex Pistols Jubilee boat trip, that hosted the Sex Pistols and fans in a Jubilee cruise along the River Thames in London, which ended slightly unceremoniously when the boat was docked by the Metropolitan Police and several members of the entourage including Debbie were arrested on the dockside for “obstruction”. She was later aquitted.

Debbie hung around with Malcolm long after many others had either moved on or given up and can be glimpsed singing backing vocals with Steve Jones in Julien Temple’s 1980 film “The Great Rock and Roll Swindle”, just don’t blink, Debbie appears in this clip at around 1.41

Debbie was apparently still doing “glamour” shoots for magazines like Men Only well into the 1980s, and after that…we don’t know.

  1. Hi, just to complete the story on Debbie, I knew her in more recent times as Debbie Wilson and for the last 30 years of her life she worked as a film production prop buyer & set decorator on various film and t.v. shows. I work in a prop hire company and so worked with her quite a few times. She was a lovely lady and still very cool. She never really talked much of her early days however she once mentioned about having been on the Punk scene and it was only then I realised who she was. Unfortunately Debbie passed away with cancer about 8 years ago now. Here’s her listing on IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0933280/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1

  2. I remember having a chat with Debbie and Tracie at the Winter Gardens in Cleethorpes on the infamous Anarchy tour Dec ’76 – I bought an Anarchy programme/fanzine/newspaper off them ….. they were trying to persuade me to go withnthem and follow the Pistols on tour!

  3. Wish I’d been part of that scene it was so cool. Born in 1988 sadly 🙁 Billy Idol was so hot even back then.

Though considered part of the Bromley Contingent she was actually from north London. Brought up on a council estate in Burnt Oak (i think).

    1. If that’s true, then we think we might just like her even more!
